Why is my 6-week-old not making eye contact?

This may well be normal so don't panic. You should bring this to the attention of your pediatrition at your baby's next well check. They can perform several tests to reassure you that all is well.

At six weeks old no infant will make eye contact, they can see very little at this point and time and are easily distracted.

It can take up to 8-10 weeks for a newborn's vision to focus enough to be able to make eye contact. Consult your pediatrician if you are worried.

It could possibly be an early sign of a developmental problem such as Autism or a learning delay. Ask your doctor about it. Sometimes it's too early to tell.
