How long should you maintain eye-to-eye contact?

Personally I think eye contact should be temporarily broken every 15-30 seconds in casual conversation. After that people start to look at you like you are creepy.

It really depends on the situation, but contact should be maintained long enough to establish sincerity or to adequately demonstrate concern, attention, appreciation, or other appropriate emotion. Should the other person show any signs of discomfort, CASUALLY direct your gaze elsewhere. Quick shifting is just as creepy as staring.
