Why is medical testing on animals legal?

Some animals have different body organs much like humans such as the fetal pig. The theory of why it's legal is that it is supposed to help humans in the long run so this supposedly justifies the research. It would also be hard to show any test results using dead animals.

Our Country is messed up in the way they test chemicals on animals. They use animals instead of human beings which I guess, in a round about way, is a little bit better than using a human being. It should be illegal. They need to find another way.
