Why is it is called the "Milky Way."

Our solar system is located in the galaxy known as the milky way. The reason for the name is the galaaxy itself appears as a hazey band of light. This band of white light extends through out the whole solar system.

Galaxy is called Milky way because there was a saying that this is made up of drops of breast milk of Greek Goddess. Another saying is that Gala means milk.it has band of stars in the night sky that make up the Milky Way. With all the light from countless stars coming together, it's almost a cloudy or milky appearance.
