Why does my RCA tv come on and off by itself?

Usually this is due to a problem with the front control board. There is likely to be a bad connection in one or more of the tact switches. Alternatively the remote sensor could be defective.

At the risk of sounding ridiculous, as long as you've had it checked mechanically and found nothing wrong, I would say the there's the possibility that it may be haunted.

There are multiple reasons this could be happening. It is possible that a chip inside of the television is offset. Another possible problem is that the button itself is broken. The best way to find out is by taking it to a local repair shop.

There are a few possibilities. The power button on the television might be stuck. The TV might also just be old and is malfunctioning. As televisions get older connections and wires wear away. You might also be sitting on the remote control. Also consider the possibility that your house might be haunted.

I had the same problem with an old Samsung. Drove me nuts. I figured the television set was just old. Then I realized the button on the remote was stuck!
