Why does my PT cruiser gas gauge go to empty when cruise control is on?

I think the gas gauge on my PT cruiser is messed up.

Unless the gas tank is actually empty the crusie control should never cause the gas gauge to go to empty. If it does you should take it to the dealer.

This shouldn't be happening I would suggest getting it checked out by a mechanic as soon as possible. Until then don't use cruise control.

You have a crossed wire within the steering wheel. Behind the cruise control, try to check the relays first to rule that out. If that isn't the cause, then check the wiring behind the wheel, this is best left to a professional, as you can cross another wire and cause another short..

No. more than likely you have a short in your steering column. When the cruise is set carefully tilt the steering wheel and see if the gauge works

When throttling pedal is engaged electronically by the cruise control, either the gas tank sensor is not working accordingly or the mixture of gas is inefficient with the cruise control.

Your gas gauge should be performing the same whether your cruise control is set on or not. There may be something wrong with the gas gauge sensor, the gas gauge itself, or even the cruise control sensor. In this instance I would definitely suggest getting it checked out by a professional to pinpoint where the problem is.
