This is normal but painful, it is mostly due to a muscle spasm due to bad posture, low potassium levels, an injury, nerve degeneration or if you have a Morton's toe when your second toe is longer than the first and other toes which can cause strain to your metatarsal bones (bones that connect with your joints).

It may be due to a muscle spasm that may have affected a nerve. It may also be due to potassium deficiency.

Your middle toe is most likely locking up because you have poor posture. Remember to always sit straight with ample room for all parts of your body. You might also not be getting enough potassium in your diet.

Your middle toe might be locking up due to a cramp caused by poor posture or a potassium deficiency. If you recently injured it, you may have strained a nerve and the locking up could be caused by nerve regeneration. It may also be Mortons toe, a disorder of the toe shape.

If your second toe is longer than the first it can be a condition called Mortons toe. It can also be just a cramp due to low potassium

If your middle toe is longer than all the rest of your toes if can cause strain on the metatarsal bones in your toes, which cause them to lock up.

My middle toe sometimes locks up and gets really painful. I think it may be caused by a calcium deficiency.

It could be because of Arthritis that mainly affected your toe. And or maybe because of the problem of the surrounding ligament in your middle toe.

You can get cramps in all parts of your body. The best way to counteract these cramps is by stretching and drinking tonic water with Quinine, which calms your joints and muscles.

I have the same thing happening. I eat plenty of bananas, my posture is excellent, I don't have arthritis, and the pain is so bad I've had to keep my middle toe wrapped for 3 days. Had X-rays and my Dr. says nothing is wrong with it.
