A dog loves the taste and smell of their humans, and nothing picks up that scent like a blanket. The blanket is a comfort piece to a dog, and chewing on it is a sign that it makes them feel like they are part of a pack, and part of a family.

Oh that's great. Our dog feels like part of the pack, guess it's time to "unpack" her!  add a comment

My dog is a Lab/Chow/Collie mix. Just within the last year or so he pulls the corner of my comforter on my bed and chews and salivates at times soaking it. Just that one corner. He does it daily. What emp says, makes a lof sense. Thanks!  add a comment

Your dog is either teething and in need of appropriate chew toys to help with the process, or in need of entertainment. I would offer a wide variety of safe toys for him to choose from.

Maybe the dog is just playing or he is hungry or is too nervous. Being alone could be a reason for him.

Sometimes the doggy is bored. They also chew to clean their teeth, although chew bones are better. The chewing motion is also relaxing. Try giving chew toys to replace the blanket habit. Old socks knotted up, the sleeve off an old sweatshirt, etc are good replacements.

Probably having withdrawal symptoms like. My old dog used to do it after it had been licking my arse... I used to shout "Per se" when I'd had enough and it would go and chew... Did it down the park once... it's been taken off me now.
