Why do I have heart palpitations after eating?

Get checked for hiatus hernia and for GERD, both of these can contribute to the palpitations after eating phenomena. Many doctors out there see no correlation, whereas others do. There is no shortage of people, including myself, that this happens to - you'll see if you Google it.

Having suffered with Palpitations after eating ANYTHING, I demanded an endoscopy and they discovered I had a raw stomach. Prescribed Lansoprazole and after 3 days.......... no more palpitations! None, not even one. GP can't tell me why, but I'm so happy to have my life back! Good luck to all!

I have heart palpitations after EVERYTHING that I eat. As a consequence, I am taking 40 mg Propranolol, twice a day, before each meal, (I only eat twice a day). I have been taking propranolol for the past 15 years. Nobody seems to know what causes it. I'm 41.

I have palpitations after EVERYTHING I eat, and, as a consequence, I have been taking Beta Blockers (Propranolol 40 mg) for the past 15 years. It has nothing whatsoever to do with caffeine or sugar. I drink de-caffeinated tea and I eat hardly any sugar.

I have to say that in my case weight has nothing to do with my palpitations. I'm 5'4" and never weighed more 125lbs yet I have had palpitation problems for years.

I had ask many doctors why I always had palpitations after I eat? I finally found a great internist who was able to answer my question. Indigestion can cause this due to a nerve connection to the heart. My cure is medicine called Pantoprazole(Protonix) 40mg daily for indigestion. No more palpitations!

When blood sugar levels are low, eating can increase your heart rate, especially if you are eating sugary food or food or drink that contains caffeine or other stimulants.

Sometimes heart palpitations are mistaken for indigestion. Are you over weight and eating to many calories with little daily exercise. If you have pain down your left arm as well as palpitations then you should get checked, because there could be something more serious.

I have suffered from anxiety and palpitations after i ate but also high blood pressure around 200 all the time. I was given propranolol. I was taken off propranolol and it put me through hell and back. But my blood pressure started to return back to normal quickly.

To tell the truth Doctors don't know why people have palpitations. They may be caused by any of the listed conditions or a combination. You will have to have each checked out in some order until you find the right things that work for you.

I have palpitations after EVERYTHING I eat, regardless of meal size. It starts approx 30-45 minutes after eating and lasts for 2-3 hours. I am on Beta Blockers too which stop the heart racing, but it still pounds hard like it's going to burst out of my chest. Extremely uncomfortable.

Basically heart palpitations occur due to overweight. when blood sugar levels are low eating can increase your heart rate especially if you are eating sugary food or food or drink that contains caffeine or other stimulants. it may also be because of the high fat level in the food taken.

It has nothing to do with overweight! I am thin and have had this problem for years.  add a comment

It may be because of the high fat level in the food taken and also due to your overweight. Also the reason which might lead to palpitations are the blood pressure or the sugar level in your body. Basically overweight is the main cause of all heart palpitations.

This comment is just ridiculous. I get palpitations every time I eat, and my BMI is 22. A hiatus hernia can cause this. After eating, the pressure in the stomach and hernia puts pressure on the vagus nerve, which controls the heartrate. It can also cause breathing difficulties.  add a comment

It is very naiive to say that al lheart palpitations are related to obesity or being overweight. Those should do more research.
