Each search engine uses a different algorithm in order to get its results to you. Because of this, each search engine has a different idea of what's important when you enter your query.

Different search engines produce different search results because each company uses their own algorithm program to crawl websites. Each algorithm will look for sites that use your search terms and they decide how important each site is based on certain criteria.

Well each different search engine has a slightly unique way of searching through sites. Some have a automated algorithm that generate the results while other use a hybrid of automatic combined with user input. So you could search for the same thing and the two engine go about searching there database in their own separate ways.

To add your website to a search engine's database, there is a specific process you have to go through. You have to have an account with that search engine and to have registered your site. Some people register with Google but not with Yahoo or Bing.
