Paula Abdul was one of the original judges of American Idol. The story reported in the entertainment press for her leaving was that she was not able to negotiated an increase in her salary. Unhappy with the fact that she was not being paid enough, she exited the show.

Paula rejected a 30% salary increase and multilayer deal. She wanted a reported $12 million per season, from the previous season's $2 million. The show refused and she walked.

They were renegotiation her contract and they would not give her enough money. Also her and Simon were not getting along.
