Why are my lipomas painful?

It might mean that you have a condition called Dercum disease or it might indicate that what you thought was a lipoma, is actually a tumor. Consult your doctor immediately.

Lipomas can be painful for a few reasons. One is from simple movement. If a lipoma is manipulated too much, the tissue surrounding it can become inflamed and tight leading to some discomfort. A second reason could be that the mass is pushing on a nerve. This could also cause a tingling sensation.
