When purchasing a dvd/vcr player, it really is personal choice as to what brand is best. I have found that JVC and Mitsubishi make the ones that I like most. My JVC dvd/vcr player is great because it lets you record on the video side so you can still record VHS programs like in the old days

I like the Insignia brand that is sold at Best Buy. They have great quality and they are very inexpensive.

I've had a Philips model, and it worked like a charm for a long time. The picture was great, and it was really quiet.

Sony or coby are the best brands to go with. Personally i will go with the sony since it does last a long time and rarely has problems.

Sony makes them really well just because of the fact that they have been around for so long and they have been doing it well since they started.

Stay away from a dvd vcr combo. There are too many things that can go wrong with them. Your best bet is to buy them separately.
