Both GE and Maytag make good units. Maytag Model MGC7640 is a nice clean unit with good sturdy grades. GE makes a glass top unit with gas burns on top.
I am partial to GE and Fridgedair (sp?). I have used both with very little problems and they have good service when needed. They also have a good customer service in general from my experience. But both brands also sell under different names (less expensive versions of same cook tops).
Bosch, Thermador and Frigidaire all make good 30" gas cook-tops. The GE Profile model JGP933SEKSS is one of the highest rated online. Amana also has a highly rated model available.
After doing some extebsive reading and researching I have been able to find that some of the better 30 in gas cook tops are the ones made by Bosch, KitchenAid and Downdraft. Although, ones made by GE seem pretty good too.
