What became known as the Xerox was invented in 1938 by Chester Carlson. It was called electrophotography, which was actually a dry printing process. The Xerox was used in almost every office building, by the 1960's. In 1971, a laser beam was added to the Xerox, by an engineer named Gary Starkweather. The first laser printer was called EARS.
