Portraits have been done for so long there are people from Kat Von D the tattoo artist to Vincent Van Gogh, Leanardo DaVinci, Frida Kahlo and Rembrandt. To limit your portrait artist intake also try limiting the media. Just pencil or just oil painting or just photography. There are SO many artists!

Perhaps the most famous portraitist was Rembrandt (17th century) who seemed to depict the real essence of his sitters. Other famous portraitists include Frans Hals, Judith Leyster, Elisabeth Vigee-Lebrun, Joshua Reynolds, John Copley, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, John Singer, and John Sargent.
