The two biggest celebrities that have made international new have been Shakira and Pablo Escobar. Shakira is a Colombian singer that has emerged into an American audience to great praise. Pablo Escobar was a famous lord of the Colombian drug dynasty. He was ruthless and controlled Columbia with an iron fist.

One of the most famous people from Columbia that Americans know about is Shakira, who was born in Barranquilla, Columbia. My favorite Columbian is Carlos Valderrama, who is a famous soccer player and played in MLS in the late 1990's.
