Jan and Dean were very talented, as are The Beach Boys to this day. In female singers, you have Cher, who still preforms, Blondie, her older songs be tons better then most of her newer selections, save maybe for the song "Maria". The Carpenters are a nice brother and sister group, with a wide variety of styles in their songs.

There are a number of well thought of standards singers. Considered the greatest singers of the Great American Songbook are Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee. Some renowned jazz singers include Billie Holiday, Anita O'Day and Mel Torme. In the era of classic rock Janis Joplin and Robert Plant come to mind.
