Laura, Mary, Carrie, Grace, Ma and Pa Ingalls, Almanzo Wilder, Rose Wilder, Reverend Alden, Mr. Edwards, Miss Beadle, Mr. Hanson, Royal and ElizaJane Wilder, and the Oleson family really existed.

Ma. Pa, Half Pint and Mary were real characters. Also, Laura's husband was real. mary's husband was not real.

Most of them were real and had appeared in at least one of the books. Albert was a main character that was fictional.

Many of the characters in the book and television series were fictionalized. Laura Ingalls Wilder did have a Ma, Pa, sisters Mary (who was blind), Grace, and Carrie.
