You whould try some popular antivirus software tat you feel fits you best. Some of the most popular are Kaspersky (which has a trial vresin) Avira and AVG (which both have free versions). After you ahve tried them for a while consider registering. Most offer better protection for registered users.

There are two programs that are very good and free as well. They are Ad-aware by Lavasoft and Spy Bot Search and Destroy. Make sure you download Spybot from a site like cnet

Spybot Search & Destroy is the best anti-spyware software I've ever found. I install it on every computer I work on.

The best thing to do is go to and search for AVG antivirus free edition. This is used by millions of poeple and it works very well. The product will scan your comp and get rid of anything thats already on there and then continue to protect it afterwards.
