You can get your lane chest appraised at a pawn shop, an antique thrift shop that buys back and sells furniture or have a professional appraise it for you.
You can go to any antiques store and they should be able to give you an appraisal. Or if you went to an auction there would be plenty of people attending it that could help you.
I would start with a local antique's dealer with a good reputation in your community. There are lot's of really skilled antique dealers who are honest and can help you determine the value of your chest.
Usually you can go and get your old lane chest appraised at a local antique store. If you do not have one then call and appraiser out of the phone book and they will tell you.
