Always talk to other skaters about local competitions. That is the best way to get the word out. As far as major competitions, keep in mind that you need to be very skilled to compete and not make a fool of yourself, look up ESPN and XGames on the internet.

You can find out most events from going to skate shop web pages or the web page of a skate team or brand.

There are some resources on the internet such as skateboarddirectory.com or gromorama.com. Many local park districts run skateboard parks and offer skateboard competiions through their programs, check the park district program guide for details
