The original recipe was created in a Georgia drugstore in 1885. It was originally sold as Pemberton's French Wine Coca, but began to be sold as a health tonic during Prohibition. In 1944, the name Coke became a registered trademark for what is now one of the world's most popular beverages.

Coca-Cola was invented in May of 1886 by Dr. John Pemberton. He made it in his back yard and the writing on the can is his exact script.
