Most doctors say to wait till a toddler has reached the age of two prior to giving them peanut butter. If they have shown other food allergies you may need to wait till they are three.

If there is no known peanut allergies in your family, and peanut allergies are much less common then most people realize, then the concern should be of your toddler choking. Use smooth peanut butter and only give it to a toddler while they are being observed by the parent or other adult.

Give the child peanut butter after 12 months of age. The only exception is if their is a family history of allergies; in that case, ask the doctor.
