Rose of Sharon is pretty hardy and fares pretty well after transplanting. Better to do this while they are fairly young so that you don't disturb their root system. Fall is usually the best time to do this, after they have stopped flowering and the weather is cooler. Early spring can work too while the plant is dormant.

The best time to transplant is in the spring before the heat of summer sets in. Rose of Sharon can take some time to establish so transplanting in the fall may not be the best time as they may not fully establish themselves before the cold of winter sets in.
