Removing fleas from a dog is best done with a flea dip, following the instructions on the container exactly. You will need to repeat the treatment to be sure to get all the fleas. At the same time, the yard and home should be treated for fleas.

Comfortis has always and continues to work well for me. The dog's hair doesn't get greasy since it's a pill and it lasts for 30 days.

I have found frontline to be the best protection against fleas but it can be costly. If budget is a problem hartz shampoo (blue bottle) works well for a very low price but be prepared to give your dog weekly baths. One tip i was given by a friend was to give them a little garlic with their meal.

The only flea treatment that has been effective for my dogs is the medicine from the vet that you place on their back. One dose lasts a lot longer than a month. When I notice a flea, I give the dog another dose. I have small dogs and usually they only need one dose a year.
