What would cause my speedometer and tachometer to stop working?

both of these gauges may be connected to one fuse in the fuse panel. a mechanic could check the fuses to see if they are good. it sounds like if both are not working then they are connected.

This happened to my Dodge Neon about a year ago. Take this in to the dealership, it is likely the chip behind the speedometer panel. This is an electrical problem, and unless you're an electrician, should be left to trained mechanics.

A common cause for the malfunction of the speedometer and tachometer is a faulty fuse or a loose connection of the wires to the back of the gauge pod.

It could be faulty wiring or a blown fuse. All of my dashboard functions have stopped working except for the gas gauge! Perhaps you are driving a late twentienth century Ford Aspire! That could do it!
