They had to dig down 65 ft to bedrock to start the foundation. They needed to make a slurry bathtub composed of water and benetonide mixture to keep the ground water from the hudson river out. They excavated about 1. 2 million cubic yards of material out to make the foundation.

The world trade centers foundation was over seventy feet deep that is like seven floors. It was destroyed in 2001.
