What special care does a preemie baby need?

It depends on how early the baby is. My daughter was born at 36 weeks gestation, a month before my due date. She is what's called a Late Term Preemie. However, babies born earlier may need to be kept in the NICU for weeks or months before going home.

If the baby is very premature it might have to stay in the hospital for awhile. Some premature infants will want to eat more frequently than full term babies.

Each baby is different and needs it's own care, preemie or not. If your baby is a preemie you will learn how to care for it, the most important thing a baby needs is love, and I am sure you can offer your baby that!
