This tree prefers direct sunlight and moist soil. Prune early in the spring and check occasionally for insect problems, including spruce aphids(Nov. through spring), spider mites, and budworms. Aphids and mites are their worst enemies, and emit sticky substances. In hot weather, water slowly by placing hose at tree base.

For the next several months or so water the tree every three to five days. It is during this period of its life that it can begin to lean and might require a stake until its a year old.

I plant it in the ground and keep it watered every day and let mother nature take care of the rest.
