What should you write in Sweet 16 cards?

Since it is still a birthday card you should definitely include "Happy Birthday". Make sure to emphasize how special 16 is and stress that they should do something special. Congratulations is nice because it says that they have made it this far and shows that 16 isn't just another birthday.

Congratulations is a good word. So is "Have fun", "Look out on the sidewalks", "high school will never be the same", Life is wonderful". I would avoid anything that has to do with the old cliche of "sweet sixteen and never been kissed" - that is tired. You could say "the first day of the rest of your life".
