Try not to splash/move alot. I heard that if you float on your back it's less likely to attack you, and the best way to swim away is breast stroke. If it attacks, punch it in the eyes, gills, or nose, the most sensitive body parts.

I would punch it in the most sensitive parts which are the nose, the gills or the eyes. Also, I would try swimming away.

If you put pressure on their nose it makes them paralyzed.

sometimes. and if it's racing towards you, and trying to attack you, don't try to grab it's nose. get into a fighting possision, and try to hit it's gills or eyes  add a comment

i saw a small shark while snorkeling in Thailand. i know it probably was not dangerous, but i exited the water pretty quickly, just to be safe. i have to admit, my heart was racing a bit - but i was more excited than scared.

although it is highly unlikely that you will ever get attacked by a shark (shark attacks are actually quite rare), i think you are supposed to poke the beast in the eyes.

there are two known possibly successful strategies about being opposite to some stronger entity... first one is "run away as fast as you can", which can help if there is any chance to do that... another is, to pretend your opponent is actually victim and attack it. this can confuse opponent.

I would stop swimming. If possible I would try to hold on to something so I would not move. If there is nothing around me, I would still try not to move so much and say my last prayer. Amen.

I've always heard that the right thing to do is punch them in the nose. Apparently, they have very sensitive glands or something and if you get them in the right spot, it will knock them out and keep them away from you.

i heard that their weakest point was the eye - supposedly a poke in the eye wards them off, but that might just be an urban legend, and its probably pretty hard to get your finger in exactly the right spot when you are in a panic!  add a comment
