What should I use to treat jellyfish stings?

An old remedy passed down through a seafaring family, vinegar. It'll sting like nothing else for a few seconds then that's it!

They make a hydrocortozone cream specifically for that problem. You can also gently wash the stingers off with warm soapy water and treat with Motrin. TV shows would have you urinate on the stings but this doesn't work to well... better than nothing though.

Vinegar is an effective remedy for Jelly fish stings. Soaking the area in vinegar helps to stop the nematocysts left behind from the jelly fish tentacles from releasing their poisons. DO NOT USE fresh water, it will have the opposite effect.

Topical pain relievers work just fine. I have heard that ora-gel is particularly good. If the sting is really bad, you should seek medical attention.
