Dachshunds are hunters. Make sure that you watch them so that they don't capture any wild or rabid rats, birds, or toads. They also dig holes.

Good to get them insured while they're puppies. They are prone to back problems, so you must support their back when you pick them up.

Dachshunds are hound dogs and like to wander so a good fence is important. They can be aggresive if left intact.
