If you've got a spliced area you SHOULD ensure that you support this part from below or else it will break totally.

Do you have a problem due to sagging of the ridge beam? You can tackle it in several ways - using scaffolding with jacks, reattaching rafters and installing cross ties. If your walls are also sagging you'll need to jack the ridge and pull in the walls.

Before you start any repairs on the ridge board double check the rafters and get them replaced at the same time. This will save you a lot of trouble later on  add a comment

For pulling in the walls you can use turnbuckles or winches. make sure you know how to work with these!  add a comment

Rafters are supported by the ridge boards. If the ridge board is damaged it could cause damage as the weight shifts onto other rafters. Consult a professional.

Don't let the fact that this is a ridge board intimidate you. Treat it with the same methods you would use on any other board repair and you should be fine.
