Securing it with stabalizing supports. As the name indicates, the trunk is literally "pencil" width. Usually a three-pronged buttress, forming a pyramidal outline is more than enough to do the trick. Should you live in a location with higher than normal levels of wind, make sure to place your pencil tree behind other forms of vegetation or fence structure.

As the plant grows you want to add some kind of support next to the plant to guide it in a straight direction. If not the plant could grow crooked or snap.

It is important to let them have space to grow since they can grow quite tall. Be sure to plant them deep enough into the soil that their roots can fully develop. Make sure that the climate you live in is not too cold because then your pencil tree will not survive.

Choose a colorful pencil and sharpen it. Poke the point into a peet moss and soil mixture, and put the pot in the sun. Water gently and await baby pencils.

Inside or outside give the pencil tree plenty of light. It likes to be pot bound and needs water only if dry. Cannot tolerate cold weather. Propagate with cuttings.

Pencil trees need temperatures that don't drop below 25 degrees, and then only for short periods. They need little to moderate water and full sun exposure. It is important to note that the sap from a pencil tree is poisonous.

You want the dirt around the base of the tree to be lose at first so roots can easily develop. Eventually its ok if it gets packed down. I recommend making a small mound since some dirt will sink gradually.

Pencil Trees can grow up to 6 - 9 metres tall with a branch span of 2 - 3 metres. It is important to allow room for growth.

First the sapling must have the main root undamaged.Dig a pit deep enough to make the tree to stand errect and radiate its ancillory roots.Ensure enough water supply.Add coal and sand mix in the pit with natural manure after it becomes big and strong.Do not grow any other tree near this.DO not bend the twigs.
