All healthcare practitioners are covered by some form of liability insurance. Very often, the insurance is provided as a benefit of employment. If you plan to work as a RT, ask about this matter in the interview. If you have an issue with the kind of care you received, you may need to seek legal advice.

Respiratory therapists almost always work for an agency or hospital. The agency or hospital carries malpractice insurance covering the therapist. If you believe a therapist has done something wrong the first step is to contact the agency.

It depends on why you need to know- if you are a patient, you should research your treatment providers. If you are a practitioner you should consult your insurance provider to insure your coverage. If you want to know the statistics of malpractice in that field, research.

Respiratory therapy usually involves controlled breathing to help strengthen the lungs. Malpractice is when a doctor performs an unnecessary procedure on a patient and legal action can be taken.
