Both are essential to the body, and both have good ones and bad ones. Good and bad meaning if you have too much of one it may cause build up in the veins which may cause; stroke, heart attack, clots which can go anywhere. If there is a history of any of the above speak with your doctor.

Lipids help in growth and some people develop intolerance to them. It is essential to understand which types affect a person for those who have the intolerance. Cholesterol cause the arteries around the heart thin and thus increase the risk of heart diseases and blood pressure too. Animal fat contain high cholesterol levels.

Lipids are the amount of fat in blood. Cholesterol on the other hand is a type of lipid. Cholesterol is not really harmful if in a considerable amount.

Cholesterol is a fatty substance, and the way it is processed in the body is via lipids. There are two types of lipids: LDL and HDL. LDL is bad cholesterol and HDL is good cholesterol. LDL slows and can cause build up, but HDL can protect the heart.
