The most important part of hanging bookshelves is to be sure to attach the hanger into a stud. You can use a studfinder to find the first stud, after that the studs should be sixteen inches apart, although sometimes they can be twenty four. Be sure to use a level to insure it is installed level.

The shelves will be holding quite a bit of weight. Make sure that when securing the shelves that you hit a stud in a couple spots.
