It is important to first become familiar with both the federal and state regulations regarding disabled persons in the workplace, including the Family Medical Leave Act. Secondly, it is important to investigate what local resources there are to assist both employer and employee with needed adjustments. Lastly, it is important to make sure that employer and employee establish regular communication.

According to the provisions of the American's with Diabiablites Act you as a employer are required to make resonable accomodation for a disabled employee. This means you cannot discriminate in hiring and if you don't want the person doing a particular job you must demonstrate a need for able bodiness.

One of the most important thing to remember when it comes to accommodating disabled employees is to make sure that they are getting all of the minimal accommodations in order to allow the employees to work comfortably. As long as you have these reasonable accommodations then you should be within the requirements of the ADA.
