What should I do if my new gerbil is fighting with my old gerbil?

If they are the same sex this can cause problems. The old gerbil may be territorial after having the whole place to himself. My advice would be to buy a bigger cage so they can have their own space. If that doesn't work keep them separate them before one dies.

I doubt you will be able to make them stop fighting so I would suggest getting them two separate cages.

Buy a larger cage, or add a third gerbil. Dominance fighting is not usually life threatening, but can be so watch closely in case you need to seperate them permanently.
