I have a new gerbil and the only thing I have in the house to feed it is some meat, is that safe?

Please do not give your gerbil meat (a bit of cheese is OK). Go out and buy gerbil food (like oxbow healthy hanfuls), seeds, fruit and veg.

You can feed them an occasional cricket but I doubt that's the kind of meat you have in your house! I would reccomend going out and buying some gerbil food.
