Maybe your child is touching a sensitive spot, or the dog was abused before you got her. Try not letting her pet the dog till it seems comfortable with her.

Separate the two if it is an aggressive action. Play growling occurs naturally. If the dog stares you in the eyes, the dog's body is tense, and you recognize a bad problem, it will probably bite if feeling threatened. Maybe the child plays too rough or treats the dog badly when adults aren't around.

Dogs have likes and dislikes just like we do, and you need to find out exactly what occurred. Sometimes Greyhounds need those dislikes respected and use precaution.

You should automatically tell the dog no, forcefully, so that the dog will learn that growling at the child is not a good behavior. Make sure to be in control.

You should tell the greyhound off for growling at the child, but at the same time make sure the child is not hurting the dog in any way when they go near the dog.
