What should I do if I feel the temperature gauge on my 1991 Honda Accord is not accurate?

First thing you would do is check your coolant level, followed by the thermostat, if all of those things seem to be in working order, your problem would more than likely be the coolant temp sensor, or temp switch depending on what the factory used on the vehicle.

To assess if your temp gauge is good or not, you can check the resistance values using a multimeter. Reference voltages can be found using a web search. Another option would be to purchase a standalone analog temperature gauge at your local automotive parts store.

Well there are two things you could do. First you could replace the original sensor with another oem style sensor and see if that is more accurate by using a temperature probe. Another option is to install a aftermarket temperature sensor and gauge. This type of setup should be more accurate than a factory setup.
