Consider performing forward flexion exercises as well as rotation and lateral flexion exercises to use all the abdominal muscles. Maximize range of motion by using equipment such as a stability ball for forward curl ups, rotated curl ups, and lateral curl ups. Maximize overload to build strength by holding additional resistance, such as a weighted ball, while doing these exercises.

Your planning should include, but not limited to. The amount of time you want to spend per day. The amount of time you want to spend per exercise. Remove and stop any exercises that cause discomfort. The most important will be a well laid out diet, plan your diet a week in advance.

I tactic I've employed to deal with the boredom associated with ab routines is to superset ab sets with other exercises. For example, I often take a break between doing single leg extensions by doing a set of sit-ups on a nearby decline bench.
