What should I be feeding Yorkies with sensitive stomachs?

Absolutely no people food! Their stomachs are sensitive and Iams makes a great food for sensitive stomachs. Some people will say that it is o.k. to feed them bland food like scrambled eggs. But in my experience any dog with a sensitive stomach does not need to have different food daily. Even when changing their dog food do it slowly.

Sensitive stomachs could be due to several reasons. Make sure you are feeding a good quality dog food where the first couple of ingredients are meat or meat based. Sometimes it also helps to feed smaller meals more frequently. So instead of feeding one or two meals, divide their daily rations into 5 or 6 meals a day.

There are a number of different foods to feed yorkies, dry dog food is not very invasive to a stomach but you can wet it with hot water to keep it mushy and ensure it is easier to digest. Also try AD (need a vet prescription for it) or goat's milk as an additive.

Depending on there age goes what you should feed them. If there are puppies i recommend sticking to small portion of canned food. As there mature you can mix.

Sometimes you can feed them white fish that has been cooked and that will help or you can call the vet and they can help.

Always check with your vet first, but you're generally safe with the BRAC diet (bananas, rice, apples and cooked chicken). Don't use any seasonings and feed small portions.

One thing you can try is to feed them very simple foods, not complex. Such as puppy chow instead of adult food. Puppy chow is softer and much simpler to digest for the dogs. It should help with this type of issue. Make sure they have enough water. Or look for a brand for sensitive stomachs.

There are some brands of dog food that carry food for sensitive stomachs. I would check with a grain free dog food. Some brand include Merrick, Evo and Wellness Core.

They have food now available for dogs with sensitive systems. You should check that food does not have a lot of corn fillers. Corn can be hard to digest and it's a main ingredient in many cheap pet foods. Buy foods with chicken and rice as they are easy to digest.

There are a few things you could try feeding your Yorkie. Eukanuba and Natural Balance are a couple of dry dog foods you can try. Also you can go natural and try chicken or lamb. Just make sure you stay away from sugary foods, especially chocolate which is poisonous to dogs.
