If a toddler has eaten too much and his stomach is full, that could be too much for his stomach to handle and he could vomit. A toddler's stomach sphincter is not very strong at this age and it doesn't take much for stomach contents to come back up. Even too much physical activity could induce vomiting.

Toddlers are often able to vomit relatively easily. If they choke while eating, they can sometimes throw up. They can also in some cases throw up on demand if they do not like what they are eating. Additionally, if they engage in very active play (eg. tumbling around and upside down) shortly after eating, they can throw up.

There could be a number of reasons. He could have a gag reflex that is very sensitive. He could be choking and is trying to get up what ever he tried to swallow. He could have smelled something that was bad and it made him get sick. He may have cried so much that it caused him to vomit.

Your toddler may have eaten something that didn't sit well with his stomach, he may have eaten too much or he may have been too active too soon after eating.

If it has been confirmed by a doctor that he is not sick then most likely it is nerves. If a major change has happened he may be having anxiety.
