What can I do if my dog woke this morning vomiting blood?

If he is vomiting blood (Hematemesis), this is very serious and will likely require hospitalisation. It could be any number of things, such as a bleeding tumuor, a GI tract ulceration, ingestion of a foreign body. Please take him to a vet as soon as possible to avoid serious complications.

It is suggested to take to the veterinary doctor soon. To avoid such vomiting we can give Zantac or Tagamet tablets periodically. As a first aid give some salty water.

Take your pet to the vet. If a dog has blood coming out of anywhere it requires immediate veterinary care. All you can do until the dog is a the vet is monitor his eating, water intake and comfort.

This might be the sign of a serious condition that is not manifest from a simple injury you could have observed. Call the vet right away!
