A house becomes a mansion from the atmosphere and size of the building. The size of a mansion is over 6000 square feet and has certain ammenities and styles that bring the building up in class. A mansion is a luxurious version of a house.
In the U.S. a mansion is a residence of more than 8000 sq. ft. In Europe, a mansion is defined as a residence with a couple dozen bedrooms, a ballroom and a huge dining hall.
Mansion is not just a house with 4-maids but well engineered, interiored with large 11-rooms and 9-bathrooms, with a rotonda on front that cars can turn either way, the 2- main gates run 35meters away from porch with the same sizes of front and back yards- its Baciles Mansion :)
Well, there are different definitions of what makes a house a mansion. Some people will say it is based on how big the house is. And some people will say it is based on how much you spent towards buying the house. According to me, any house with atleast 1 acre worth more than 1 million is a mansion.
well first off the house would have to be worth millions . and then it would have to be fancy with alot of rooms and bathrooms and extra rooms no one even needs just so it bigger then any other homes ,would have to have really expensive floors and windows nothing cheap
large lot, large house, on a lake or have a brook or creek, have servant quarters, mature trees, of expensive material, worth millions, deck as roof, veranda & porch surround, lift, dumb waiters, laundry & garbage chute, sound proof room, flood daylight lightings, keyless entry...
Some realtors say any house over 6,000 square feet qualifies it as a mansion. But there is no hard and set rule. Sometimes a house can be smaller, but still considered a mansion. You have to consider the location, as well as any special attributes, such as a wine cellar, horse stable, or tennis court, of the house in question.
A lot of older homes of 5,000 sq ft or more are titled as Mansions. I don't think it has to do with the tennis courts or pools. I think it is that "grand" feel when you walk into the home. The high ceilings, large open foyers.
My house is almost 10000 square feet. It is on almost 8 acres. We have a hot tub, pool, summer kitchen, 2 eat in kitchens, an office, a butler's pantry, a steam shower, 3 car garage and an elevator. Is it a mansion?
Well I live in a 5,500 square foot home and to me it feels like a mansion. We have 3 dining rooms, 7 bedrooms, (bathrooms in each one), also 3 other bathrooms, a library, a bar room, and we did just host a wedding of nearly 200 so yeah.
