Buy one with the best sound quality you can afford. If you're limited on space, consider an upright piano, they take up less space.

There are two basic kinds of pianos available - the upright and the grand (or vertical) piano. Most people start out with an upright piano because of the costliness of the grand piano as well as space concerns. It is a good idea to spend money on a good brand, such as Yamaha!

If you want the best, Steinway is the way to go. Grand pianos are also top of the line--you'll pay a pretty penny for both the name and the size though. Otherwise, a piano is a piano, as long as it's properly tuned, so buy the one that fits your life (and in your house) the best.
